THE National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) highlighted two major initiatives on September 4, 2026, advancing research-driven crime prevention strategies while celebrating top-performing public servants during National Crime Prevention Week.
At the NAPOLCOM Central Office, the agency’s Crime Prevention and Coordination Service (CPCS) convened the 2026 Crime Prevention Research Colloquium.
The event brought together academics and government representatives to exchange empirical data on emerging public safety challenges.
Participating higher education institutions included the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Muntinlupa, President Ramon Magsaysay State University, Palawan State University, University of Baguio, and Universidad de Manila.
Key presentations focused on school safety protocols, rape victimization dynamics, online identity theft, and the influence of social media advertising on young adults’ engagement with digital gambling.
Reactors from the Department of Education, PNP Women and Children Protection Center, PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center provided operational insights on the research findings.
In his official message, Commissioner Josephus G. Angan emphasized that bridging the gap between academic institutions and government agencies is essential for developing evidence-based strategies and fostering safer communities.
On the same day, NAPOLCOM, led by Commissioner Ralph Calinisan, partnered with the Metrobank Foundation for the 2026 Outstanding Filipinos awarding ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Manila.
Guided by the theme “Beyond Excellence,” the event honored exceptional teachers, soldiers, and police officers whose careers exemplify dedication and integrity.
Recipients were selected following a rigorous vetting process that included comprehensive background investigations, panel deliberations, and field evaluations.
Many awardees hailed from remote areas and modest backgrounds, demonstrating that impactful public service can thrive despite resource constraints.
NAPOLCOM highlighted that the recognition aims to showcase how individual commitment to integrity and community welfare contributes directly to national security and governance goals.
Together, the research colloquium and recognition ceremony reflect NAPOLCOM’s dual focus on strengthening policy formulation through research while reinforcing professional standards across the law enforcement sector.
