RAPID response by police officers thwarted an alleged robbery setup involving fake law enforcement agents in Makati City on Wednesday night, leading to the arrest of three suspects—including a Chinese national—and the recovery of firearms and illegal drugs.
At around 7:55 PM on September 3, 2026, personnel from the San Isidro Sub-Station 3 of the Makati City Police Station apprehended three male suspects aged 19, 24, and 27 along with a 27-year-old Chinese national.
The incident began during a planned transaction involving the purchase of mobile phone units.
According to initial police reports, the complainants met with an individual regarding the mobile devices when several men unexpectedly entered the victims’ vehicle and attempted to drive off with ₱300,000 in cash, forcing the victims to call for immediate assistance.
One complainant reported being held at gunpoint inside the vehicle by a suspect who falsely claimed to be a National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agent conducting an entrapment operation.
Responding officers intercepted the vehicle and arrested the three suspects, though several accomplices managed to flee. Law enforcers recovered the following items from the scene:
- Firearms & Ammunition: A 9mm pistol loaded with seven live rounds and a .38-caliber revolver loaded with three live rounds
- Illegal Drugs: Two sachets of suspected shabu weighing 1.8 grams (valued at ₱12,240) and two glass pipe containers containing drug residue
- Vehicles: Two automobiles allegedly involved in the operation
The suspects were taken to the Ospital ng Makati for physical examinations before being turned over to the Makati City Police Station for documentation and inquest proceedings.
They face multiple charges including Attempted Robbery, Grave Coercion, Usurpation of Authority, illegal firearms possession, and drug violations.
NCRPO Officer-in-Charge PBGEN Christopher N. Abrahano praised the responding team for its swift intervention.
“The events in Makati show that NCRPO will respond with speed and precision, regardless of the tactics offenders use or the identities they pretend to assume,” PBGEN Abrahano stated, urging the public to immediately report suspicious transactions to emergency services.
