THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is spearheading a collaborative initiative with local government units (LGUs) and traffic management agencies to eliminate road obstructions and ensure unimpeded access for emergency response vehicles across Metro Manila.

NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano instructed all five regional police districts to collaborate closely with city officials, traffic offices, emergency responders, and local establishments.

The directive mandates a comprehensive review of critical access routes surrounding major hospitals, transport hubs, commercial centers, and other high-density areas.

This cooperative review aims to pinpoint recurring traffic bottlenecks, evaluate the maneuverability of emergency transport, and establish proactive solutions to minimize response delays during fires, medical emergencies, crimes, and other critical incidents.

“Every minute matters during an emergency. A blocked road can delay an ambulance carrying a patient, prevent firefighters from reaching a burning structure, or hinder police officers responding to a crime,” Abrahano stated.

“We must work with our local government and traffic partners to keep critical access routes passable and ensure that emergency responders can reach people who need help,” Abrahano added.

Under the partnership, police units will reinforce lawful traffic enforcement within their operational mandates and provide active support in managing congestion during major incidents or emergencies.

Furthermore, the initiative seeks to clarify institutional responsibilities regarding the removal of illegal parking and other street-level obstructions.

Emphasizing that public safety requires collective action, Abrahano urged motorists, transport operators, and private establishments to respect driveways, avoid blocking designated emergency pathways, and comply with instructions from authorized traffic enforcers.

The NCRPO reaffirmed its dedication to responsive policing, noting that keeping thoroughfares clear is a vital, shared responsibility that directly saves lives across the metropolis.
