THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has relieved the head of its Police Clearance Section following a viral social media complaint alleging that frontline services at Quezon City Hall were disrupted when personnel were caught singing instead of assisting the public on October 12, 2026.
The incident was brought to the attention of Mayor Joy Belmonte by a concerned resident.
Following a direct discussion with the citizen, Mayor Belmonte immediately endorsed the matter to the QCPD for prompt action, while also extending a personal apology to the individual.
“Nauunawaan po natin ang halaga ng oras ng bawat QCitizen, at hindi po dapat nasasayang ang oras ng sinumang lumalapit sa ating pamahalaan para humingi ng serbisyo,” Mayor Belmonte stated, emphasizing that the time of residents seeking government assistance must never be wasted.
The QCPD acknowledged the gravity of the public concern and launched an immediate probe to establish the facts.
While initial verifications and transaction records indicated that clearance processing continued under an alternate lunch-break arrangement—designed to comply with the Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007 (RA 9485) and the Ease of Doing Business Act (RA 11032)—authorities took decisive administrative action.
Pending the outcome of a full and objective investigation, the Chief of the Police Clearance Section has been relieved of their current assignment.
The QCPD stressed that this measure is administrative and executed without prejudice to any final liability, assuring the public that due process will be strictly observed for any personnel found in violation of rules and regulations.
The QCPD has urged the complainant to submit a formal report and supporting evidence to aid the ongoing inquiry.
Reaffirming its adherence to high standards of professionalism, accountability, and courtesy, the district assured residents that all circumstances will be weighed fairly.
“Patuloy po kaming makikinig at kikilos upang masiguro ang maayos, maagap, at maasahang serbisyo para sa bawat QCitizen,” the local government and police force echoed, pledging to maintain efficient, responsive public service across all local offices.
