PROMPT police action and vital community cooperation enabled the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) to swiftly apprehend a 24-year-old construction worker linked to an akyat-bahay (break-in) incident in Barangay Greater Fairview on October 13, 2026.
Acting District Director Police Brigadier General Christopher Olazo commended the Fairview Police Station (PS 5), led by Police Lieutenant Colonel John Glenn Siguan, for the immediate apprehension of the suspect, identified as alias “Vic,” a resident of the same barangay.
The incident came to light when the victim returned home at approximately 1:15 PM on October 13 and discovered that the main door lock of her residence had been forcibly dismantled.
Several personal items were missing, prompting her to immediately report the crime to PS 5.
A breakthrough in the case came forward when a witness—who recognized the suspect as his tenant—reported seeing him hurriedly leaving the victim’s property.
Acting swiftly on the tip, police operatives launched a follow-up operation and arrested the suspect at his residence at around 2:30 PM that same day, barely over an hour after the report.
Authorities successfully recovered several stolen items from the suspect, including a Huawei tablet, a coin purse, and various identification cards.
However, a Vivo cellphone valued at 12,000 pesos remains unrecovered.
Background checks revealed that the suspect has a prior brush with the law, having faced a previous case for violating Presidential Decree No. 1602 (illegal gambling) in May 2024.
He is currently in police custody and will face formal robbery charges before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Commending the collaborative effort, PBGEN Olazo stressed the importance of community watchfulness: “Swift police response and community cooperation are vital in addressing crime and bringing suspects before the proper authorities. We urge the public to remain vigilant, secure their homes, and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or through 911 or QC Helpline 122.”
