THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has challenged all police personnel across Metro Manila to translate significant drops in reported crime into a genuine, everyday sense of security for the public.
NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher N. Abrahano issued the call following a notable 55.15% decline in eight focus crimes.
Incidents fell from 165 cases recorded between October 4 and 10, 2025, down to 74 cases during the same period in 2026.
Data revealed sharp drops across major categories: rape plummeted by 77.42%, murder by 71.43%, theft by 55.71%, physical injuries by 29.41%, and robbery by 19.05%.
Motor vehicle carnapping dropped entirely by 100%, and motorcycle carnapping decreased by 80%, while homicide rates remained unchanged.
While acknowledging the dedication of district directors, station commanders, and personnel, PBGen. Abrahano stressed that these positive numbers should drive deeper commitment rather than complacency.
“Ang tunay na sukatan ng ating tagumpay ay hindi lamang kung gaano kababa ang bilang ng krimen sa ating mga ulat, kundi kung gaano kaligtas ang pakiramdam ng ating mga kababayan,” Abrahano stated, emphasizing a vision of Metro Manila where citizens can walk freely at night without fear.
To achieve this, the NCRPO chief instructed commanders to intensify police visibility, intelligence-driven operations, and rapid response times.
Alongside these operational pushes, the region posted an 87.84% Crime Clearance Efficiency (CCE), while Crime Solution Efficiency (CSE) climbed by 5.18 percentage points to 79.73%.
Abrahano also urged police to deepen partnerships with local government units, barangay officials, and community stakeholders to address localized security concerns. Ultimately, the NCRPO maintains that lower statistics are a strong indicator of progress, but the true benchmark of success is a community that genuinely feels safe.
