THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has placed all regional police units on heightened alert following a recent lightning rally where protesters attempted to breach the security perimeter surrounding the Malacañang complex.
Law enforcement personnel successfully intercepted the demonstrators, preventing unauthorized entry into the vital government installation while maintaining order and allowing the protest assembly to proceed.
In response to the incident, NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano issued a directive instructing all unit commanders to bolster security protocols across critical infrastructure and primary access routes throughout the metropolis.
“I have directed our police commanders to maintain heightened situational awareness, strengthen coordination and intelligence monitoring, and ensure sufficient police presence around critical government installations,” PBGen. Abrahano stated.
He noted that the measures are designed to safeguard public safety, protect lives and property, and prevent security breaches at secured locations.
At the same time, Abrahano underscored the police force’s commitment to upholding constitutional rights, directing commanders to collaborate closely with relevant agencies and event organizers.
He stressed that lawmen must balance facility security with the public’s right to peaceful expression by exercising maximum tolerance, restraint, and professionalism.
“We respect the people’s right to peacefully express their grievances. At the same time, our police officers have a responsibility to secure critical government facilities and prevent any attempt to breach established security perimeters,” Abrahano said, adding that the force will maintain a vigilant and proportionate response moving forward.
