POLICE leadership in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) convened a series of high-level security briefings and joint council meetings to finalize operational plans for the upcoming 2026 BARMM Parliamentary Elections.
Police Brigadier General Christopher M. Abecia, Regional Director of Police Regional Office Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (PRO BAR), spearheaded the final briefing and issuance of operational instructions on Friday, September 11, at Camp Brigadier General Salipada K. Pendatun in Parang, Maguindanao del Norte.
The briefing aimed to reinforce the deployment readiness, multi-agency coordination, and security protocols of police forces across the region.
During the session, Deputy Regional Director for Administration PBGEN Jemuel F. Siason presided over a detailed presentation on security guidelines governing the inaugural BARMM Parliamentary Elections.
The discussion covered comprehensive safety measures, proactive threat mitigation, and protocols to maintain a peaceful voting environment.
International observers were also present, including Dr. Gopal Krishna Siwakoti, Chairperson and Mission Adviser of the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL), alongside delegates from ANFREL and the National Democratic Institute (NDI).
The police briefing followed a major multi-sectoral peace and order meeting held on September 9 at Camp Siongco in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte.
Presided over by Maguindanao del Norte Governor Datu Tucao O. Mastura, the Maguindanao del Norte and Special Geographic Area (SGA) Joint Leaders Conference and Peace and Order Council Meeting gathered key officials from the Philippine National Police, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), regional government agencies, and local chief executives.
PBGEN Siason, who also serves as Chairman of the Government of the Philippines – Ad Hoc Joint Action Group (GPH-AHJAG), represented the police leadership at the council meeting.
Discussions centered on local governance challenges, security strategies, and collaborative inter-agency mechanisms necessary to ensure a smooth, transparent, and violence-free election period throughout Maguindanao del Norte and the SGA.
