ON August 26, 2026, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) expanded its proactive digital safety efforts through simultaneous threat response and cyber awareness sessions for educators in Ilocos Norte and students in Rizal.
In San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, personnel from the Ilocos Norte Police Cyber Response Team (INPCRT), led by PCpt. Mark Jhosen M. Macaspac and supervised by RACU 1 Chief PCol. Greg T. Guerrero, partnered with the Ilocos Norte Provincial Police Office and INPECU to facilitate an Orientation on Active Threat Preparedness and Response at Bingao National High School.
The session trained 56 teaching and non-teaching staff members on protocols for responding to online bomb threats.
Discussions centered on early threat identification, key vigilance practices, and streamlined coordination procedures to safeguard the school environment during emergency situations.
On the same day in Cainta, Rizal, the Northern District Anti-Cybercrime Team (NDACT), under Officer-in-Charge PCpt. Cora T. Gazzingan, hosted a Cybercrime Awareness Seminar for students at Marsha Montessori School.
The initiative sought to build digital literacy and safety among youth, covering the core functions of the PNP ACG, common online risks, cyberbullying prevention, essential cyber safety habits, and the emerging threat of nihilistic violent extremism (NVE).
PMGen. Wilson C. Asueta, Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, highlighted the strategic value of educating both school administrators and students to build a resilient educational network.
“Through continuous awareness and preparedness, we empower school personnel to respond appropriately to online threats and help create a safer environment for our schools and communities,” PMGen. Asueta stated regarding the Ilocos Norte session.
Reflecting on the student outreach in Rizal, Asueta added that early cyber safety education encourages responsible digital citizenship.
“By working together, we can foster a safer, more respectful, and responsible digital environment for everyone,” he noted.
