QUICK police intervention and covert street patrols led to the swift apprehension of a robbery suspect and the recovery of stolen jewelry and a loaded firearm along Metropolitan Avenue in Barangay Bel-Air, Makati City, in the early hours of October 24, 2026.

At approximately 12:50 AM, personnel from the Makati City Police Station’s Station Intelligence Section were conducting covert anti-criminality patrols on private motorcycles under the Southern Police District’s “Timpuyog” Borderless Policing framework when they heard a woman shouting for help near a roadside establishment.

Officers immediately responded to find a 38-year-old street food vendor visibly distressed.

She reported that two men aboard a motorcycle—one armed with a firearm—had forcibly snatched her gold bracelet and necklace before attempting to flee.

Armed with the victim’s description and escape trajectory, the undercover operatives launched an immediate hot pursuit.

Along Metropolitan Avenue, they spotted two individuals matching the suspects’ descriptions.

When law enforcement identified themselves, one suspect sped away on the motorcycle, while the other tried to escape on foot while reaching for a firearm tucked in his waistband.

Officers quickly restrained the fleeing suspect, identified as 26-year-old alias “Owa,” an unemployed resident of Barangay Pio del Pilar.

A search yielded a caliber .38 revolver loaded with three live rounds, a black belt bag, and the victim’s stolen jewelry.

The recovered gold necklace, valued at roughly ₱20,000, and the ₱15,000 gold bracelet were positively identified by the victim.

Subsequent database checks revealed the arrested suspect has a lengthy criminal background, including past cases for Homicide, Theft, illegal gambling under Presidential Decree No. 1602, and drug offenses under Republic Act No. 9165.
