A domestic dispute over child support turned fatal on Thursday morning, October 22, 2026, after a member of the Rizal Provincial Security Group (RPSG) allegedly shot and killed his wife near the Ynares Center in Barangay San Roque.
The victim, identified through her alias as Lyn, a resident of Taytay, Rizal, succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
The suspect, her husband identified as alias Jo, is a RPSG member assigned to the Rizal Provincial Government.
According to initial police reports, the incident unfolded at around 11:45 AM, following an argument between the couple at the Human Resources Office of the Rizal Provincial Government.
The discussion reportedly centered on an agreement with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) regarding financial support for their children.
Investigators stated that after the discussion, the suspect returned to his assigned post near the gate of the Ynares Center.
Upon seeing his wife, he allegedly drew his service firearm and opened fire, striking her multiple times in various parts of her body.
Responding police officers, aided by the Rizal Provincial Government Security Group, quickly apprehended the suspect at the scene and confiscated the firearm allegedly used in the attack.
The Antipolo City Police Station subsequently coordinated with the Rizal Provincial Forensic Unit to conduct a thorough crime scene processing and forensic examination.
In a statement posted on social media, Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares expressed deep sadness and extended his condolences to the bereaved family.
“Nakakalungkot at nakikiramay po sa pamilya ng biktima ng pamamaril na naganap kaninang bago magtanghali sa Circumferential Road, Brgy. San Roque,” Mayor Ynares said.
He confirmed that despite being rushed to the hospital, the victim ultimately passed away.
The mayor noted that the suspect was immediately surrendered by his colleagues and is now in police custody for proper investigation and filing of appropriate charges.
“Sa gitna ng ganitong malungkot na pangyayari, nakikiusap po tayo na ipagdasal ang pumanaw at ang kanyang pamilya. Nawa’y bigyan sila ng Panginoon ng lakas, pagdamay, at kapanatagan sa napakahirap na panahong ito,” the mayor added.
Authorities are preparing to file formal charges against the suspect as the investigation continues.
