AUTHORITIES in Manila have taken a 43-year-old man into custody following the alleged sexual assault of a 62-year-old bedridden woman in Pandacan on October 18, 2026.
According to reports from the Pandacan Police Station (PS-10), the incident occurred at around midnight.
The victim, who suffers from lower-body paralysis, was resting at home when the suspect, identified as alias “Toto”—reportedly forced his way into the residence.
Investigators stated that the suspect approached the victim and asked her to become his wife.
After the victim firmly rejected the proposal, the suspect allegedly pulled her down from her bed and proceeded to sexually assault her, taking advantage of her vulnerable physical state.
The crime came to light later that day when the victim’s daughter rushed to the house after receiving an urgent call from a family caretaker.
While speaking with her mother, the daughter noticed an unfamiliar wallet left on the floor.
Shortly after, a man returned to the property looking for a lost wallet and quickly departed.
When the daughter asked her distressed mother if that man was her attacker, the victim nodded and identified him.
The daughter immediately reported the incident to the barangay hall.
Responding barangay officials, led by Kagawad Ariel G. Santos and Kagawad Jefferson Ramos, conducted a follow-up operation and successfully apprehended the suspect before turning him over to the Pandacan Police Station’s Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD).
During the custodial investigation, the suspect was informed of his constitutional rights under Republic Act No. 7438 and the Anti-Torture Law, but chose to remain silent.
Police are currently preparing the necessary documents to file charges for violation of Republic Act No. 8353 (The Anti-Rape Law of 1997), following a mandatory physical examination at a public hospital.
