LAW enforcement authorities have apprehended a 32-year-old man tagged as the prime suspect in the gruesome killing of a woman whose body was discovered inside a refrigerator in Rodriguez, Rizal.
The suspect, identified as “Dan,” who is also listed as a regional most wanted person, was captured late at night on October 15 around 11:27 p.m.
Operatives from the Rizal Police Provincial Office’s Provincial Intelligence Unit Tracker Team, alongside the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station, cornered him inside a vehicle along Aurora Boulevard and Stanford Street in Cubao, Quezon City.
While the high-profile arrest marks a major breakthrough in the September 16 homicide, officials clarified that the apprehension was executed based on an active warrant of arrest for Serious Illegal Detention.
The warrant was issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 195 in Parañaque City on September 21, with no bail recommended.
Following his capture, Dan was transferred to the Rodriguez police station, where he is currently detained.
Despite the mounting evidence, the suspect has firmly denied any involvement in the crime, shifting blame to other individuals.
Investigators, however, are digging deeper into potential motives.
Col. Allen Rae Co revealed during a news briefing at Camp Crame that authorities are examining financial disputes as a primary angle.
Reports indicate that the victim was carrying approximately ₱100,000 in cash prior to her tragic death.
Meanwhile, Rodriguez Municipal Police Station chief Lt. Col. Arwyn Gaffud noted that forensic teams are still awaiting crucial DNA examination results to firmly establish the suspect’s direct physical connection to the crime scene.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has directed investigators to leave no stone unturned.
“I trust the skills of our investigators on this case and I expect them to exhaust all the measures to establish the truth behind this incident and solve this case in the soonest possible time,” Nartatez stated.
As police continue to evaluate forensic evidence and determine whether murder charges will formally be filed against the suspect in connection with the refrigerator discovery, the investigation remains active.
