PROMPT coordination between local residents and law enforcement resulted in the swift arrest of a 35-year-old man following a firearm-discharge incident in Barangay Bayanan on Friday evening, October 9, 2026.
Authorities reported that the incident unfolded at around 6:30 PM along Bautista Street near Puregold Jr. in Purok 3.
The complainant, a 40-year-old man who is the suspect’s brother, immediately alerted barangay officials about the illegal discharge of a firearm, which quickly triggered a multi-unit police response.
Personnel from the Putatan Police Sub-Station, alongside other responding units and barangay personnel, rushed to the suspect’s residence located in Sunrise Subdivision, Barangay Bayanan.
Upon arrival, the complainant positively identified his brother, leading to his immediate apprehension.
During the intervention, police recovered a caliber .38 revolver lacking a serial number. Inspection of the firearm revealed three fired cartridges inside the cylinder and a jammed slug lodged in the barrel.
The suspect, together with the confiscated weapon and ammunition, was transferred to the Station Investigation and Detective Management Section (SIDMS) of the Muntinlupa City Police Station for proper disposition.
Authorities are currently processing documentation and preparing requests for ballistic examinations ahead of filing formal criminal complaints.
The suspect is expected to face charges for violating Article 254 of the Revised Penal Code regarding the illegal discharge of firearms, as well as Republic Act No. 10591, known as the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Police Brigadier General Rodel A. Pastor, District Director of the Southern Police District (SPD), highlighted the critical role of timely reporting in law enforcement.
“Swift police response and public cooperation are vital in addressing firearm-related incidents and keeping our communities safe,” PBGEN Pastor said.
“We urge everyone to report such incidents immediately so we can respond promptly and hold those responsible accountable under the law,” Pastor emphasized.
