THE National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has ordered police districts across Metro Manila to bolster coordination with private security in residential subdivisions, condominiums, and commercial centers to prevent break-ins ahead of the upcoming holiday season.
NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano issued the directive following a September 24 “akyat-bahay” incident in Forbes Park, Makati City, which resulted in the arrest of a 25-year-old suspect.
Abrahano stated that while the rapid arrest demonstrated effective police response, the breach highlights the need for proactive prevention—particularly as families prepare to travel for the holidays, leaving homes temporarily unattended.
Under the new order, police units are instructed to scale up patrols around residential communities and collaborate with neighborhood administrators to review physical security setups, including CCTV systems, perimeter fencing, and lighting.
Police will also establish direct communication channels with village guards and building security to ensure rapid response to suspicious activity.
Private security teams have been advised to enforce strict access-control and visitor-verification protocols at gates and building entrances.
Additionally, police authorities urged homeowners to take precautions before traveling, such as securing entry points, activating alarm systems, avoiding visible storage of valuables, and asking trusted individuals to inspect properties periodically.
Residents were also cautioned against posting real-time travel updates on social media that indicate their homes are vacant.
Abrahano noted that the preventive drive aligns with broader directives from Philippine National Police Chief General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. to maintain heightened police presence and community engagement throughout Metro Manila.
