JOINT law enforcement elements successfully served a long-standing arrest warrant on the Eastern Police District’s (EPD) top most wanted person, a murder suspect alias “Hapon,” during separate legal proceedings in Rizal on September 1, 2026.
Operatives from the Pasig City Police Station’s follow-up & warrant and subpoena section, alongside the Regional Intelligence Unit 4A and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Rizal, executed the operation at around 4:50 PM at the Provincial Prosecution Office of Rizal.
The suspect was undergoing inquest proceedings at the facility for a separate drug-related offense under PDEA custody when police served the writ.
The arrest stems from a warrant issued on May 20, 2024, by the Presiding Judge of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 67, Pasig City.
Hapon faces charges for murder under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code.
Investigation records reveal that the suspect and several accomplices allegedly forced their way into the victim’s residence and shot him multiple times, causing immediate death.
Authorities confirmed that Hapon concurrently holds the top spot on both the District Level and Pasig City Police Station Level Most Wanted Person lists for his involvement in the fatal shooting.
Following the formal serving of the warrant, the accused remains detained at the PDEA Rizal Provincial Office while awaiting further instructions and schedule of court proceedings from the issuing tribunal.
Acting EPD District Director PBGEN Melecio M. Buslig Jr. commended the joint operational teams for their inter-agency coordination that led to the suspect’s arrest.
Buslig emphasized that the EPD will maintain its aggressive stance against fugitives and high-profile criminal offenders across the district to ensure public safety and judicial accountability.
