A 33-year-old scavenger was arrested on Tuesday night, September 1, after law enforcers seized an unlicensed handgun and ammunition during a search warrant operation in Barangay Bayanan.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Biboy,” a resident of Block 7, Purok 3.
At around 11:40 PM, joint units from the Putatan Police Sub-Station, the Investigation Detective and Management Section (IDMS), and SWAT operatives executed Search Warrant No. 26-029, issued by the Regional Trial Court of Muntinlupa City for violations of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
The operation was led by Muntinlupa City Police Chief PCOL Olivia C. Ancheta.
During the search, officers recovered an unmarked .38-caliber revolver loaded with five rounds of live ammunition, alongside a black sling bag. Local barangay public safety officers witnessed the search to ensure standard procedure was maintained.
The suspect was informed of his constitutional rights before being taken to the police station for documentation and booking.
Formal charges for illegal firearm and ammunition possession are being prepared for court filing.
Southern Police District (SPD) Director PBGEN Glenn Oliver C. Cinco praised the operating teams for the clean execution of the warrant, reiterating that the SPD will continue its aggressive stance against loose firearms to protect communities across the district.
